CCAB Groups in Europe


These CCAB Groups are a means by which members of the six professions exchange views and promote the profession within Europe. The groups are independent of each other and arrange various activities, such as seminars, within their respective countries. All the Groups come together once a year.

The following terms of reference give an indication of the objectives and activities of CCAB Groups in Europe (they may not be always be applicable due to local circumstances).

  • Maintain one or more regional groups as considered desirable.
  • Promote the professional education of members by providing programmes of lecturers, seminars, courses and conferences where members’ requirements for CPD are not already adequately covered by activities provided locally by international firms or national accountancy bodies.
  • Promote relations with local bodies by the provision of joint meetings/events.
  • Encourage discussion among members on CCAB exposure drafts.
  • Support the parent CCAB bodies in maintaining and enhancing standards of professional conduct and work.
  • When requested by CCAB bodies, submit for consideration the names of members suitable for appointment or co-option to committees or for other representation.
  • Assist the parent CCAB bodies in maintaining two-way communication between their bodies and members by
    1. arranging when possible for Office-Holders or other appropriate representatives of the parent CCAB bodies to hold communication meetings with representatives of the local groups, and to attend local group events to meet and talk to members; reporting members’ views on the policies of the parent CCAB bodies;
    2. keeping the CCAB parent bodies informed of the activities of the groups.
  • Advise members about sources of information and help.
  • Support local industrial and commercial members’ groups and assist the parent CCAB bodies to maintain an effective channel of consultation and communication with industrial and commercial members.
  • Provide a programme of social events as required by members (the costs of any such programme to be met by the members who participate in it).
